TimeML and Turkish Temporal Logic
نویسندگان
چکیده
Turkish is one of the widely used and relatively difficult natural language for machine processing. One of the challenges in Turkish is the temporal logic and processing the time of events. For the Latin family natural languages, there are quite successful solutions like TimeML which is built on the Reichenbach tense analysis and Allen‟s temporal logic. Unfortunately, there is no previous work on Turkish languages up until now. This paper covers the basic temporal models of Reichenbach and Allen and then proceeds to the improvement of these models to cover temporal logic behind Turkish natural language. In order to test the success of this study, we have also created a corpus from child stories and tested the success of new implementation.

On TimeML-Compliant Temporal Expression Extraction in Turkish
It is commonly acknowledged that temporal expression extractors are important components of larger natural language processing systems like information retrieval and question answering systems. Extraction and normalization of temporal expressions in Turkish has not been given attention so far except the extraction of some date and time expressions within the course of named entity recognition. ...
متن کاملFrom TimeML to TPL
This paper describes a subset of the temporal mark-up language TimeML, and explains its relation to various formalisms found in the literature on interval temporal logic. The subset of TimeML we describe can be viewed as an interval temporal logic with a tractable satisfiability problem, but very limited expressive power. Most crucially, that logic does not permit quantification over events. Th...
متن کاملA Finite-State Temporal Ontology and Event-Intervals
A finite-state approach to temporal ontology for natural language text is described under which intervals (of the real line) paired with event descriptions are encoded as strings. The approach is applied to an interval temporal logic linked to TimeML, a standard mark-up language for time and events, for which various finite-state mechanisms are proposed.
متن کاملArgument Structure in TimeML
TimeML is a specification language for the annotation of events and temporal expressions in natural language text. In addition, the language introduces three relational tags linking temporal objects and events to one another. These links impose both aspectual and temporal ordering over time objects, as well as mark up subordination contexts introduced by modality, evidentiality, and factivity. ...
متن کاملMassively Increasing TIMEX3 Resources: A Transduction Approach
Automatic annotation of temporal expressions is a research challenge of great interest in the field of information extraction. Gold standard temporally-annotated resources are limited in size, which makes research using them difficult. Standards have also evolved over the past decade, so not all temporally annotated data is in the same format. We vastly increase available human-annotated tempor...
